Providing nutritious meals to a community is probably not where you would expect a Bank to be associated. But, it is right where you will find Berkshire Bank employee Gale Audy, our Small Business Loan Closer.

She recently spent some time volunteering to put together and distribute over 200 meals in Pawlet, Vermont. She joined up with VT Everyone Eats, an organization funded by the federal Coronavirus Relief Fund and made possible through a grant provided by the Vermont Agency of Commerce and Community Development to Southeastern Vermont Community Action. The program has coverage in all 14 Vermont counties to ensure that food insecurities are being addressed.

Gale joined a group of volunteers at Mach’s Market in Pawlet, VT piecing together meals and packaging them up into boxes for the local community. The food preparation and packaging operation is an every Monday deal for the Machs’ Market volunteers, and they are producing 30,000 meals a week.

“This was uplifting and rewarding.” Said Gale Audy. “Knowing that you are helping those who are hungry in the community is just an all-around great feeling.”

Berkshire Bank contributed $40,000 in direct community support in 2020 to LGBTQ non-profit organizations. In 2019 pre-Covid, that donation was over $50,000, not to mention the countless hours and dollars spent internally to develop corporate equality programs and policies. We have been a long-time supporter of LGBTQ organizations across our service footprint and seek to continue that commitment internally and in the community with intentionality.
