Meet the Volunteers Who Help Berkshire Bank connect with Non-Profit Community Organizations

Melissa Myers

Can you say busy? This selfless volunteer certainly keeps busy. Meet Melissa Myers.

Melissa was captivated by the adrenaline rush of volunteering back when she was a teenager. She started her volunteerism as a candy striper at a local nursing home. Her passion progressed from there and led to opportunities to volunteer with the American Red Cross and several other organizations.

“I am so grateful to work for a company that supports volunteerism far beyond just talking about it. I serve on the Culture Council to do my best to do my part for my work family.” Said Melissa.

In her full-time gig, Melissa is a Senior Product Operations Analyst at Berkshire Bank, where she joined the Culture Council and Power of Women employee resource groups. Joining these groups helped Melissa continue her volunteerism spirit and even more access to local organizations’ volunteer opportunities.

“Volunteering has always been an essential part of my life.” Said Myers. “I have volunteered with many different organizations and am so grateful to work for a company that supports volunteerism far beyond just talking about it.”

Let’s take a deeper dive and see just what Melissa gets up to when she volunteers.

At the Berkshire Community College, you can find Melissa giving back to her Alma Mater in service as the Alumni Board President and as an Alumni Elected Trustee at Berkshire Community College. Did we mention that she also finds time to review scholarship applications to the college?

Asked about the opportunity, Melissa said that BCC was there when she needed it. She wants the same for everyone else in the community that seeks to improve themselves through education. That is what inspires her to continue to be a contributing member of her BCC family.

She also volunteers time at United Cerebral Palsy, serving as an aide to an individual with Down Syndrome. She has to complete eight hours of training annually and recertify in First Aid bi-annually. She does it without any second thought because this volunteer opportunity is personal; it‘s like a family member. Who wouldn’t do that to help?

Let’s not stop there. Melissa was recently featured for her work with the local charity Skills for Cities, where she made a difference for racial justice and equity issues on a national volunteer project.

Seem to us that wherever Melissa goes, she finds an opportunity to give back. Whether that is singing at her local church or just volunteering to, well, do just about anything. She is a volunteer to admire.
